The Advertisement 2

Geoffrey sat in his tiny, dimly lit apartment, scrolling through job listings on his outdated laptop. His bank account was nearly empty, and desperation was creeping in. That's when he saw the advertisement:

"Seeking Volunteers for Scientific Experiment! Generous Compensation Provided. Must Have No Preexisting Medical Conditions. Call Dr. Weiss at the Provided Number."

It seemed simple enough. He had always been in good health, and with his financial situation looking grim, he had nothing to lose. Without much thought, he dialed the number and scheduled an appointment.

The next day, Geoffrey arrived at the lab, a sterile facility tucked away in an unmarked building. Inside, the white walls gleamed under harsh fluorescent lighting. A woman stood in the center of the room, her posture rigid and her expression unreadable. She wore a tan blouse and matching skirt beneath a pristine white lab coat. Her graying hair was pulled into a tight bun, accentuating her sharp, calculating eyes.

"You must be Geoffrey," she said, her voice smooth but clinical. "I'm Dr. Weiss. Please, take a seat."

Geoffrey hesitated only briefly before stepping toward a reclining chair in the middle of the room, surrounded by blinking monitors and thick cables that connected to a large, humming machine.

"Just relax," Dr. Weiss continued as she secured thick straps around his wrists and ankles. "This will be over soon."

"Uh, what exactly is this experiment?" he asked, his voice betraying his nervousness.

Dr. Weiss chuckled—a cold, detached sound. "You see, Geoffrey, I have grown quite weary of this aging body. It no longer serves me the way I desire. But you—you're young, strong. Perfect."

A pit of dread formed in Geoffrey's stomach. "Wait, what?"

She leaned in, her lips curling into a sinister smirk. "I'm going to take your body, dear boy. And you? You will have mine."

Before he could protest, she pressed a button on the machine. A surge of electricity coursed through his body, his vision swam, and then—darkness.

When Geoffrey regained consciousness, everything felt... wrong. His limbs were sluggish, his skin felt thinner, and when he turned his head toward the reflective surface of a nearby monitor, his breath caught in his throat. Staring back at him was Dr. Weiss’s face.

"No, no, no!" he gasped, touching his wrinkled cheeks, feeling the unfamiliar sag of his skin. He turned to where his body—his real body—stood. Dr. Weiss, now inhabiting his younger form, stretched her arms and examined herself with delight.

"Oh, how marvelous!" she exclaimed, twisting from side to side, admiring her new physique. "I feel incredible!"

Geoffrey’s stomach churned. "Give it back! You can't do this!"

Dr. Weiss laughed. "Oh, but I already have. Enjoy the rest of your days. I certainly will!"

With that, she turned and walked toward the door, leaving Geoffrey trapped in her aged body.

Time passed—minutes, maybe hours. Geoffrey sat in stunned silence, unable to process what had happened. He was stuck. His mind raced for solutions, but none seemed feasible. Then, the door swung open.

A young woman entered, her bright eyes scanning the room. She was breathtakingly beautiful, with cascading auburn hair and an air of innocent curiosity.

"Hello? Dr. Weiss?" she asked hesitantly. "I’m here for the experiment."

Hope flared in Geoffrey’s chest. He cleared his throat, doing his best to mimic Dr. Weiss’s composed demeanor. "Ah, yes! Right on time, my dear. Please, have a seat."

The woman nodded and approached the chair. Geoffrey quickly secured the straps and activated the machine. His hands trembled as he adjusted the controls, ensuring that this time, the transfer would be in his favor. The machine roared to life, electricity crackled, and once again, darkness enveloped him.

When he awoke, Geoffrey felt light—free. He opened his eyes and caught his reflection on a monitor. His breath hitched.

He was stunning. The smooth, youthful features of the woman now belonged to him. He ran a delicate hand over his face, his lips curling into a smile. The once-terrifying machine had become his salvation.

A groan from the chair caught his attention. Dr. Weiss—now trapped in the frail, elderly body—struggled weakly against the straps, her eyes wild with panic.

"No! This wasn't supposed to happen!"

Geoffrey chuckled, relishing the irony. "Enjoy your new life, doctor. I certainly will."

With that, he turned on his heel and strode confidently out of the lab, embracing the beautiful, limitless future ahead.
